Patient Advocacy Representative
The Patient Advocacy Representative, within Market Access, should possess a strong commitment to advocating for patient needs and improving access to healthcare services.

Main Responsibilities:
- Patient Advocacy: Serve as a primary point of contact for patients seeking assistance with accessing healthcare services, medications, or treatments. Advocate on behalf of patients to ensure their needs are addressed and rights are upheld throughout the healthcare journey.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, payers, advocacy organizations, and policymakers. Collaborate with these stakeholders to identify access challenges and develop strategies to address them effectively.
- Policy Analysis and Development: Stay informed about relevant healthcare policies, regulations, and reimbursement practices that impact patient access. Analyze policy proposals and advocate for changes that improve patient access to affordable and high-quality care. Collaborates, participates in, and coordinates promotional activities and/or trade shows; including staffing at company sponsored industry events and detailing customers when needed.
- Education and Support: Provide education and support to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers on navigating the healthcare system, understanding insurance coverage, and accessing financial assistance programs. Offer guidance on available resources and advocate for alternative solutions when necessary.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect data on patient access issues, including barriers to care, insurance coverage trends, and medication affordability concerns. Analyze data to identify patterns and trends, and use findings to inform advocacy efforts and policy recommendations.
- Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including market access, medical affairs, and commercial teams, to ensure patient needs are integrated into product development, pricing strategies, and market access initiatives.
Work closely between outside vendors (i.e. HUBs, Specialty Pharmacy, and DME providers) and HCP practices to help facilitate insurance pre-certifications, prior-authorizations, appeals, etc. - Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to healthcare compliance and ethics. Ensure that patient advocacy activities are conducted ethically and transparently.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare administration, public health, social work).
- Prior experience in patient advocacy, healthcare policy, market access, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare system, including insurance coverage, reimbursement processes, and access barriers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and build consensus.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and advocacy for underserved populations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
